Traffic cameras for road improvements? | LETTER | Letters

The Las Vegas City Council has unanimously voted to approve traffic cams to be used help make roadway improvements. They say that images of license plates or drivers will not be used to issue citations. But what prevents them from rethinking that stance to implement a new source of revenue?

Just like they never met a tax they didn’t like, they similarly don’t give a second thought to changing their minds and voting for something that will affect the taxpayers without taxpayer input, simply by raising their hands in a meeting, regardless of public opinion.

Nevada law may currently prevent this from happening. But with a Democratic Legislature, it would take a simple vote to change that law and bypass voters, as they have done in the past.
