The Minot Hot Tots faced two opponents over the past weekend.
The Tots closed out their two game series against the Bismarck Larks at home on Saturday, July 25, with a 12-3 lead.
The Hot Tots took and grew an early lead through the first two innings of play. The Tots earned one run in the bottom of the first with a walk on loaded bases and three more in the bottom of the second with a fielder’s choice and an error.
The Larks put their first runs on the board in the top of the fourth with a two run home run.
The Tots earned one ore run in the bottom of the seventh inning and went on a seven run scoring streak in the bottom of the eighth to secure their victory. The Larks put one more up in the top of the ninth, but the Hot Tots were able to put them away before they could score again. The game ended with a 12-3 victory for Minot.
Their victory over the Larks split their two game series and gave Minot a record of 9-11 for the second half of the season.
The Hot Tots did not have a long break before heading back to Corbett to take on the Badlands Big Sticks.
The Big Sticks were first on the board on Sunday, scoring a single run in the top of the first. The Hot Tots were quick to respond with single runs of their own in the bottom of the second and third innings.
The Big Sticks took their lead back in the top of the fourth and fifth innings, and scored four more runs in the eighth and ninth innings.
The Hot Tots were only able to secure six runs though the game, giving the Big Sticks the victory at 8-6.
