Three Lincoln fires result in over half a million in damages over the weekend

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Three Lincoln fires resulted in hundreds of thousands in damage over the weekend.

The three included an apartment garage and two houses.

The apartment garage fire near North 7th Street caused an estimated $35,000 in damages. The exact number is unknown because the garage is unsafe to enter, according to Lincoln Fire and Rescue (LFR).

One of the house fires at 66th Street and Huntington Avenue started in a detached garage. It then spread to the fence and the residence, causing nearly $500,000 in damages.

The other house near Sumner Street suffered from an exterior fire. Preliminary investigations show that an electrical issue arose with the abundance of Halloween decorations outside. This fire caused around $25,000 in damages.

LFR reminds residents to not use extension cords for continual use.
