Suspect in shooting at Durham parking garage taken into custody, records show

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — The suspect in a shooting at a Durham parking garage last month was arrested Monday, court records show.

The shooting, which happened on Sept. 14 just before 2 a.m. in a parking garage in the 100 block of East Main Street, left one man hurt, according to the Durham Police Department.

Police said they identified 30-year-old Lemuel Merrell Allen of Durham as the suspect in the shooting. They announced a search for Allen on Oct. 1 and requested the public’s assistance in locating him.

On Monday, according to court records, Allen was taken into custody. He is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.

Court records show Allen was released on $50,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to make his first appearance in Durham County Court on late Tuesday morning.
