Southern athletics partners with NIL company Influxer | Southern

Southern is partnering with the name, image and likeness merchandise platform Influxer, the university announced on Tuesday.

The company will help athletes monetize their NIL through officially licensed and personalized apparel, the press release said. Influxer will allow athletes in each sport to create a personalized online storefront for fans to purchase custom merchandise and receive compensation from the sale of their licensed products.

Influxer will also help Southern athletes beyond the sale of their merchandise. The company will also provide training to athletes on personal branding, marketing, entrepreneurship, and business development.

“This partnership with Influxer represents another important step in our commitment to providing meaningful NIL opportunities for our student-athletes,” said Southern athletic director Roman Banks in a statement. “Our goal is to ensure every Jaguar has access to resources that help them maximize their personal brand while preparing them for success both during and after their collegiate careers. We’re excited to partner with an organization that shares that vision.”

At Marshall Faulk’s introductory press conference as the program’s new football coach, Banks mentioned the influence of NIL in the current college sports landscape.

“Our third-generation students are not coming to The Bluff because of their uncles, their aunties or their grandparents (came) to play sports anymore,” Banks said on Dec. 1, 2025. “This thing has changed. It’s all about facilities and all about what you can give me in money. NIL. So it’s not like it used to be when I was 30 pounds lighter playing sports.”

Influxer will handle the logistical details of orders and customer service. It’ll work closely with Southern and its athletes on creative design, product development and marketing strategies. Influxer partners with over 600 schools and 44,000 student-athletes, the release said.

“Influxer is excited about this partnership with Southern University Athletics to bring a great NIL opportunity that benefits everyone,” said Keith Miller, vice president of Influxer, in the release. “Athletic Director Roman Banks, Deputy AD Rodney Kirschner and the administration have been extremely diligent and understand not only the immediate benefits of working with us, but also the long-term resources available for their student-athletes. NIL is not simply transactional, but an opportunity that Influxer wants to use as part of the overall development process for student-athletes.”

The university’s partnership is announced ahead of the football season under first-year head coach and Pro Football Hall of Fame running back Faulk. The Jaguars’ first game is against Alabama State at 2 p.m. on Aug. 29 at Legion Field in Birmingham, Alabama.
