Six-run Deficit Too Much For Loboes

JAMESTOWN (NewsDakota)- On Thursday night, it was the late innings.  On Friday afternoon, it was middle innings that proved too large for LaMoure/Litchville-Marion/Edgeley.

The Loboes fell behind by six and could not rally in a 7-4 loss to Des Lacs-Burlington in the consolation semifinals of the Class B State Baseball Tournament at Jack Brown Stadium.

After Collin Abernathy and Easton Anderson walked for the Lakers in the first, Ashtyn Fisher hit a ball through the legs of Loboe 2B Brady Hanson and DLB led 1-0.  But the Loboes responded with Ross Fredenburg hitting a double off the wall to drive home Gunner Thielges in the home half to tie it at one.

In the third, DLB took the lead for good.  Abernathy and Anderson each singled and Fisher gave himself a lead with a single and it was 2-1 through three.  More trouble for the Loboes in the fourth, as the Lakers scored four runs on four hits to break the game open at 6-1 before a fifth-inning wild pitch scored Nathan Roe for a 7-1 advantage.

The Loboes would score three in the fifth, highlighted by a two-run double from Mason Warcken, to cut the lead to 7-4, which was the games’ final margin.  Through two games this weekend, the Loboes have not held a lead.

LaMoure/Litchville-Marion/Edgeley will conclude the 2026 season on Saturday, facing the Bottineau Braves for seventh place with coverage on KDDR The Tornado beginning at 11:15am.
