Servant Leadership: Legislators Become Waiters for Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance Annual Serving Up Solutions Gala

On Thursday, May 21, state lawmakers from the Arkansas Legislative Hunger Caucus will turn into waitstaff for the annual Serving Up Solutions gala hosted by the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance. The evening promises delectable dishes, a variety of prizes and packages, wine pulls and a lively auction — all with the goal of supporting the Alliance as it works to create a hunger-free Arkansas.

“Serving Up Solutions is a powerful example of servant leadership in action,” said Chief Development Officer Jennifer Owens Buie. “When community leaders and legislators come together to serve, it reinforces that addressing hunger in Arkansas is a shared responsibility—and one we can solve together.”

Chairing this year’s festivities are Ann Clemmer, partner at Capitol Consulting Firm and former state representative, and Stephanie Malone McLean, CEO of the Arkansas Trial Lawyers Association and former state representative. A truly one-of-a-kind dinner event, Serving Up Solutions is the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance’s signature gala and plays a vital role in advancing the organization’s work across the state.

Proceeds from Serving Up Solutions help fund grants to hunger relief organizations in all 75 Arkansas counties, while also supporting nutrition education, SNAP and WIC outreach, and broader food access efforts. The gala additionally benefits the Alliance’s SNAP call center, which assists Arkansans statewide in applying for benefits through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

“Through Serving Up Solutions, we’re able to fund grants to hunger relief organizations in every county, expand nutrition education, increase access to SNAP and WIC and sustain our SNAP call center, creating both immediate relief and long-term solutions to hunger across Arkansas,” Owens Buie said.

Guests can enjoy a VIP evening at Saracen Casino Resort, including a premium dining experience at Red Oak Steakhouse for up to 12 guests, valued at $2,000, along with car service to and from the resort.

The “Argenta Getaway Package” offers a curated local experience with a stay at The Baker in North Little Rock, a gift card to Blackberry Market, two Premium Flex Passes to Arkansas Contemporary Theatre and a $100 gift card to Brood & Barley.

For an elevated dining experience, the “Rober Dinner for Six” invites guests to a private evening in the Dr. Roger Tilley Exclusive Dining Room at RŌBER :: Cocktails + Culinary in Benton, featuring a specially prepared menu paired with wine, whiskey or both — complete with access to more than 100 whiskey selections.

Rounding out the offerings, the “Golf Package” includes a round of golf for four at Chenal Country Club, along with a Tito’s golf bag, perfect for those looking to enjoy a day on the course.
