A stretch of PCH is set to reopen Friday ahead of Memorial Day weekend after the Palisades Fire forced its closure.

LOS ANGELES (KABC) — It’s news many people have been waiting for.

A stretch of Pacific Coast Highway is set to reopen Friday ahead of Memorial Day weekend following a months-long closure.

The highway has been closed to the public since the Palisades Fire broke out in January and is only open to repair crews, essential businesses and residents who live in the burn area.

It’s unclear if the full road will reopen or if traffic will be limited. Gov. Gavin Newsom previously said PCH would be ready to reopen to one lane of traffic in each direction starting in May.

The road is a major artery for hundreds of thousands of people, and the closure has added to traffic issues on the 405 and 101 freeways.
