New Bedford police investigating shots-fired car crash incident

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — New Bedford police are investigating a Tuesday shots-fired incident that took place just before midnight.

The incident happened in the area of Hathaway Road and Shawmut Avenue where officers responded to reports of a motor vehicle crash, according to New Bedford police.

Investigating officers learned that shots were fired at the car, and multiple shell casings were recovered in the area of Shawmut Avenue.

Police say that the incident was isolated, and was “domestic-related.”

They add that the individuals are known to each other and there is no threat to the public.

The incident remains under investigation by New Bedford police detectives.
