Merrick County head-on collision kills two

MERRICK COUNTY, Neb. (KLKN) — Around 5 p.m. on Oct. 8, Merrick County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) was dispatched to a fatal crash around the area of Highway 30 and 3rd Road.

After investigation, deputies determined that a westbound Ford Focus, driven by Jean Worth Loudy, 43, of Grand Island, entered the eastbound lane and collided with a Chevy Malibu, driven by Logan Engel, 30, of Central City.

Engel and Worth Loudy were pronounced deceased on scene.

According to MCSO, alcohol and speed are not believed to be factors and both drivers were wearing seatbelts.

The investigation is ongoing.
