EVERETT — One person is dead after an overnight fire at a home in Marysville.
Firefighters responded around 1:30 a.m. on Thursday to reports of a residential structure fire in the 5500 block of Parkside Drive, according to a social media post from the Marysville Fire District.
Officials said the home was fully engulfed in flames prompting an aggressive fire suppression operation on scene. Firefighters from at least seven other Snohomish County fire departments responded to assist with controlling the blaze.
A woman was able to evacuate the home uninjured, but her husband was found dead inside, the fire district said. A number of pets, including birds, cats and a dog were also unaccounted for.
The fire took about an hour to extinguish, a fire district spokesperson said. No firefighters were hurt during the response.
The Marysville Fire District said the home is believed to be a complete loss with damages estimated at $500,000.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the fire marshal who will determine what caused the fire and where it started, according to the fire district.
