Isaiah Magdaleno continued his pitching dominance in the Hawaii baseball team’s 4-1 victory over UC Davis today at Dobbins Stadium on the Aggies’ campus.
A week after a one-hit, 16-strikeout shutout, Magdaleno allowed a run in eight innings. He walked one and struck out nine. He threw strikes on 70 of 100 pitches.
Tsubasa Tomii pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his first save as a Rainbow Warrior.
The ’Bows took a 2-0 lead when Mana Lau Kong and Draven Nushida had back-to-back, run-scoring singles in the first inning. Nushida, who was injured in the April 29 game against Hawaii Hilo, went 3-for-5.
In the fourth, Jake Redding smacked a drive over the fence in left field. His first homer of the season was witnessed by several friends and family members. Redding grew up in Lincoln, Calif. a 44-mile drive from Davis.
In the seventh, the ’Bows filled the bases with two outs. Lau Kong drew a five-pitch walk to bring home Redding with the fourth run.

The Aggies got on the board in the eighth. With two outs and two on base, Tyler Howard hit a grounder than skipped past shortstop Tyler Takata for an RBI single.
UH improved to 25-19 overall and 14-11 in the Big West. With five games remaining in the regular season, the ’Bows and Cal State Fullerton are tied for fourth place. The top five teams qualify for the Big West Tournament.
