Logan tops Glasgow in 2A sectional

Logan County’s girls’ soccer team notched a 2-1 win against Glasgow in the Kentucky 2A Section 2 championship on Thursday at Franklin-Simpson.
Abigail Love scored a goal for the Lady Cougars in the win.
Goalkeeper Lucy Violette finished with 10 saves for Logan County (2-3), which hosts District 13 rival Todd County Central on Tuesday.
Glasgow (4-2) faces host South Warren on Saturday.
ACS 2, Monroe County 0
Visiting Allen County-Scottsville notched a 2-0 win against Monroe County on Thursday.

Dani Miller scored both goals for the Lady Patriots.
Goalkeeper Autumn Keith made three saves to preserve the shutout for ACS (1-4), which hosts Hart County on Saturday.
Boys’ soccer
Logan County 1, Franklin-Simpson 0
Oliver Holloway scored a goal off an assist from Sebastian Hernandez to lift visiting Logan County to a 1-0 win in the finals of the Kentucky 2A Section 2 championship on Thursday.
Goalkeeper James Bryan locked up the shutout with five saves for Logan County (4-2-1 overall, 1-2 District 13), which faces Somerset on Saturday at Glasgow’s soccer field.
Franklin-Simpson (1-4-1, 0-2 District 13) is at Barren County on Monday.
Barren County 3, Russell County 1
Homestanding Barren County picked up a 3-1 win against Russell County on Thursday.
Alan Gomez-Chavarria, Gabriel Nyekan and Landon Edwards scored goals for the Trojans. Ryder Depp had two assists and Jayden Bor also had an assist.
Goalkeeper Jacob Dooley had seven saves for Barren County (5-2), which faces Russellville on Saturday at Glasgow’s soccer field.
Greenwood 8, Warren East 2
Visiting Greenwood rolled to an 8-2 win against Warren East on Thursday.
Jeremy Bermudez-Lopez scored both goals for the host Raiders in the loss. Merci Floribert added an assist.
Greenwood (1-4-1) had road games scheduled against North Hardin in the morning and Paul Laurence Dunbar on Saturday night.
Warren East (0-7) is at Meade County on Saturday.
Fort Campbell 4, Russellville 2
Russellville dropped a 4-2 road decision to Fort Campbell on Thursday.
Eli Flippin scored both goals for the Panthers. Braxton Coleman and Trevon Covington each tallied an assist.
Russellville (3-3-1) hosts District 13 foe Franklin-Simpson on Tuesday.
Volleyball
South Warren 3, Owensboro Catholic 0
South Warren claimed a 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-19) home win against Owensboro Catholic on Thursday.
Evie Ramey totaled a team-high 17 kills for the Spartans. Olivia Griffith had eight kills, Autumn Gaines added six kills, Campbell Newlove had 13 assists, Holy Irakiza added 11 assists and Piper Gregory finished with 25 digs.
South Warren (3-1) was slate to play in the Summer Slam Down tournament Friday in Owensboro.
Edmonson County 2, ACS 1
Edmonson County claimed a 2-1 (17-25, 25-23, 25-11) road win against Allen County-Scottsville on Thursday.
Lily Cook had eight kills and eight digs, and Ava Calvert had six kills for the host Lady Patriots in the loss. Kinlee Sikes tallied 20 assists and Addison Ramsey added eight digs.
ACS (2-3) and Edmonson County (6-3) were both set to play in the Summer Slam Down tournament Friday in Owensboro.

Host Logan County picked up a 3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 25-18) win against Christian County on Thursday.
Lillian Brown and Eva White had seven kills each to lead the Lady Cougars. Addison Pitts had 13 assists and Kayle Rye had 11 assists and eight digs, and Maggie Mitchell tallied 17 digs.
Logan County (2-1) was set to play in the Summer Slam Down tournament Friday in Owensboro.
