Letters: Cassidy’s efforts to appease couldn’t save him | Opinion

“He fed the Alligator, hoping it would eat him last.” That quote describes Sen. Bill Cassidy and his abdication of Louisiana and the nation in his attempt to appease Donald Trump. Any number of burned politicians, staff members, military heroes, etc. could have told him what would happen.

Now that he’s gotten burnt to a crisp, let’s hope Cassidy will use the last eight months of his political career to right the wrongs and protect both Louisianans and Americans from the disastrous policies that are ruining lives and our world standing.

It would be a small but essential comfort for all of us who have been affected by the actions of those in charge of our life, health and liberty. We deserve nothing less.
