I have grown frustrated at the nonstop negative ads about Sen. Dan Sullivan, so I did some homework on the claim that bothered me the most. No surprise, I found that claim completely false. I guess when you don’t have a record to run on, you build your campaign on lies about your opponent.

The claim I constantly heard is that he violated the Senate’s insider trading rules. My research showed Sen. Sullivan has always knowingly followed the requirements under Senate ethics rules. I learned his investments are kept in broad-based mutual funds, where he has no ability to personally direct individual stock trades.

I also learned that after Sen. Sullivan’s parents died, he and his siblings inherited some individual stocks (like foreign fish farms), which were immediately sold by third-party advisers acting independently and without Sullivan’s knowledge. As soon as Sullivan learned about the sales, he immediately filed the required Senate administrative disclosure forms. There were no penalties or charges assessed. There was no insider trading. The transactions were handled by outside advisers, and the required disclosures were filed. That’s not what I hear on all those negative attack ads.

I have to wonder: If his opponent is basing their campaign on falsehoods, how valid are the promises they are making on what they are going to deliver to Alaskans? My vote is going to U.S. Marine Dan Sullivan!
