FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty will play in Sunday’s game against the Patriots at Gillette Stadium.
The team’s top rusher has been dealing with an ankle injury since the preseason and added a foot ailment this week after Thursday’s practice that ESPN reported is a flare-up of plantar fasciitis.
He went through a very brief workout two and a half hours before kickoff and had a conversation with a contingent that included general manager John Spytek, offensive coordinator Andrew Janocko, running backs coach Omar Young and wellness coordinator Alex Guerrero before heading back to the locker room.
Despite his presence, coach Klint Kubiak this week opened the door to a more significant workload for rookie fourth-round pick Mike Washington Jr.
The Raiders had elevated rookie running back Roman Hemby from the practice squad, along with wide receiver Deven Thompkins. Hemby, however, is inactive.
Thompkins, who could factor in the return game, should also help bolster a receiving corps that will be without Jalen Nailor, who is in concussion protocol, and Jack Bech, who is on injured reserve with a broken arm. Dont’e Thornton returned to practice this week, but was not activated from injured reserve.
Reserve offensive lineman Trey Zuhn is out with a knee injury.
Defensive tackle JJ Pegues and safeties Dalton Johnson and Tristin McCollum are all inactive for the game. Aidan O’Connell will serve as the emergency third quarterback.
The Patriots will be without four of their top cornerbacks on Sunday.
Christian Gonzalez (shoulder), Carlton Davis (neck), Channing Canada (hamstring), and Karon Prunty (hamstring) are all inactive. Fullback Reggie Gilliam will not play due to ankle and knee issues, while top receiver Mack Hollins is out with a calf injury.
Las Vegas native and Centennial High School alum Rhamondre Stevenson, who was questionable with a knee injury, is active and will play.
