Iowa vs. Iowa State: How to watch and stream the Cy-Hawk football game
IOWA CITY, Iowa —
After a pair of comfortable wins in Week 1, Iowa and Iowa State are set to renew the annual Cy-Hawk series this week in Iowa City.
The Hawkeyes shut out Northern Illinois at Kinnick Stadium last weekend and moved up the rankings as a result. The Cyclones started the Jimmy Rogers era with a decisive win over Southeast Missouri State.

Hawkeye Marching Band plans to honor Derek Phillips
Iowa football and the Hawkeye Marching Band will honor Derek Phillips, a band member who died after collapsing during last week’s game.
Iowa plans to observe a moment of silence at Kinnick Stadium before Saturday’s kickoff against Iowa State. At halftime, the Hawkeye Marching Band will perform the show Phillips helped prepare for last week’s game vs. Northern Illinois: 50 Years of The Muppet Show.
“We have altered the drill during ‘Rainbow Connection’ at the end to spell out Derek’s name on the field,” the band announced.
Band members will also wear black ribbons pinned to their jackets and shirts in honor of Phillips.

Cy-Hawk football series history
Iowa currently holds a 46-25 lead in the series, but it’s been much more even in recent years. The Cyclones have won three of the last four overall, including the last two in Iowa City.
Since Kirk Ferentz became Iowa’s head coach in 1999, the series is 14-12 in favor of Iowa.
While Jimmy Rogers is new to Iowa State, he’s not new to playing on the road at Kinnick Stadium. Rogers was the defensive coordinator at South Dakota State in 2022 when the Jackrabbits — led by quarterback Mark Gronowski — lost 7-3 at Iowa.
