FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — A Cumberland County home was gutted by a fire late Monday afternoon, officials said.
The fire was reported at a two-story home just after 5 p.m. in the 1500 block of Heatherly Court, about three miles northeast of Fayetteville off Willowbrae Drive along Middle Road, according to fire officials at the scene Monday evening.
When crews arrived, heavy flames were coming from the home near the attached garage, officials said.
Crews began to attack the fire and enter the home, but discovered the fire was too aggressive to continue inside the home.
The home was destroyed by the fire, with crews still at the scene after 7 p.m. At least one ladder truck was at the scene, with firefighters spraying the smoldering ruins of the home Monday evening.
Two people were at home when the fire broke out, but they were able to escape.
No one was injured in the blaze. The two occupants were displaced by the fire.
Eastover Fire Department, the Fayetteville Fire Department, and crews from Vander Fire, Wade Fire, and Bethany Fire responded to the blaze.
