LAS CRUCES, N.M. — A judge sentenced the fourth and final suspect in a shooting that left three people dead and 15 wounded at Young Park in Las Cruces in 2025.
Nathan Rivas became the fourth person to receive three life sentences – or 90 years in prison – for the March 21, 2025 shooting. Prosecutors said Rivas and three others opened fire at a car meet, killing three people and wounding 15 others.
Rivas was sentenced Friday. Josiah Ontiveros was sentenced Sept. 30, Gustavo Dominguez was sentenced Sept. 11 and Tomas Rivas was sentenced Aug. 3.
The shooting caused state and local officials to scrutinize the issue of juvenile crime in the state. KOB spoke with survivors about what they witnessed the night of the shooting.
