East’s Lightfoot earns state runner-up honors

Warren East senior Brayden Lightfoot claimed runner-up honors in the boys’ long jump at Friday’s KHSAA Class 2A State Track and Field Championships meet in Lexington.
Lightfoot finished second in the long jump with a distance of 21 feet, 6 inches. Lightfoot added another scoring finish in the high jump, placing fourth with a height of 5-10.
Warren East’s Miyan Reynolds tied for fifth in the boys’ high jump with a height of 5-10, while teammate Jereme Lee finished seventh in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 42.70 seconds.
Butler County’s Colton Hampton finished sixth in the long jump (21-03.25), Clay Steff was eighth in the 400 (50.62), and the Bears’ quartet of Hampton, Carson Davis, Eli Hibbard and Steff finished eighth in the 1,600 relay (3:35.50). The Bears’ Alex Daugherty was eighth in the mixed shot put unified (53-03.00).
Allen County-Scottsville’s Eddie Hickey finished eighth in the 110 hurdles (16.11).
Covington Catholic won the boys’ team competition with 105.5 points. Warren East was 12th with 18.5 points, Butler County tied for 29th with 5 points and ACS was 42nd with 1 point.
In the girls’ meet, Logan County’s Ava Cowan finished fourth in both the long jump (16-06.00) and triple jump (34-09.25).
Warren East’s Delilah Martter was fourth in the discus (122-0) and sixth in the shot put (33-02.50).
Calloway County won the girls’ team title with 108 points. Logan County tied for 19th with 10 points and Warren East was 24th with 8 points.
