Iowa weather: Beautiful Friday afternoon, storms return Saturday
Sunny skies and lower humidity will bring some great weather for Friday afternoon before a few storms return on Saturday.
OR A BEACH THIS WEEKEND. YOU GOT TO PAY ATTENTION TO THE FORECAST, DAVID. YEAH. COULD HAVE TO DODGE A LITTLE BIT OF RAINFALL HERE, ESPECIALLY AS WE HEAD INTO YOUR SATURDAY. BUT THE GOOD NEWS IS THERE’S GOING TO BE A LOT OF DRY TIME AS WELL. AND WE’RE GETTING A BEAUTIFUL AFTERNOON OUT THERE HERE FOR YOUR FRIDAY. BIT OF A BREEZE, BUT THAT WIND WILL DIE DOWN AS WE HEAD INTO THE EVENING. JUST A FEW OF THOSE LITTLE PUFFY CUMULUS CLOUDS OUT THERE, BEHIND OR IN FRONT OF THAT BEAUTIFUL BLUE SKY. TEMPERATURES WILL CONTINUE TO CLIMB FROM THE 70S INTO THE 80S. SHOULD TOP OUT BETWEEN ABOUT 80 AND 83 HERE. FOR MOST OF US ACROSS CENTRAL IOWA. A LITTLE BIT WARMER AS YOU HEAD TO THE WEST, MAYBE SOME UPPER 80S AS YOU GET CLOSER TO THE NEBRASKA AND SOUTH DAKOTA BORDERS, BUT OTHERWISE NOT A BAD JUNE AFTERNOON, ESPECIALLY WITH LOWER HUMIDITY OUT THERE. BUT THAT HUMIDITY KIND OF SNEAKS BACK INTO THE FORECAST HERE FOR SATURDAY, AND THAT WILL LEAD TO A CHANCE FOR SOME THUNDERSTORMS, A COUPLE OF ROUNDS. IN FACT, WE COULD HAVE SOME STORMS PUSHING INTO NORTHWEST PORTIONS OF THE STATE EARLY ON SATURDAY. YOU CAN SEE THOSE SPENCER, STORM LAKE AND BACK TOWARDS SIOUX CITY THAT WILL PUSH EASTWARD, BUT THEY KIND OF FIZZLE OUT AS THE MORNING GOES ON. I THINK BY THE LUNCH HOUR, MOST OF THAT RAIN SHOULD ACTUALLY BE WRAPPING UP, AND WE’LL SEE TEMPERATURES CLIMBING BACK INTO THE LOW 80S AND THEN COLD FRONT PUSHING IN DURING THE AFTERNOON WILL KICK OFF ANOTHER ROUND OF STORMS, ESPECIALLY NEAR AND THEN SOUTH OF I-80. IT’S ANOTHER ROUND OF STORMS LIKELY TARGETING SOUTHERN IOWA, AND A FEW OF THESE COULD BE ON THE STRONGER SIDE THAT COULD HAVE SOME HAIL AND GUSTY WINDS WITH SOME OF THESE THUNDERSTORMS. AND WHILE WE CAN’T SAY THERE WON’T BE A TORNADO. THE TORNADO RISK IS GOING TO BE LOWER WITH THIS ROUND OF STORMS HERE TOMORROW. BUT YOU GOT TO WATCH THAT. IF YOU DO HAVE OUTDOOR PLANS, ESPECIALLY AGAIN, ACROSS THE SOUTHERN HALF OF THE STATE DURING THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING HOURS, BY 7:00, THE STRONGEST STORMS ARE OUT OF THE STATE. BY 10:00. MOST OF ANY LEFTOVER RAIN IS WRAPPING UP. AND ONCE THAT GETS OUT OF HERE, WE ACTUALLY GET SOME REALLY NICE DAYS. LOOK AT THAT DOWN TO 72 FOR A HIGH ON SUNDAY. THAT’S ALMOST COOL FOR JUNE, 76 ON MONDAY, 77 ON TUESDAY WITH AGAIN, LOW HUMIDITY OUT THERE. NEXT CHANCE FOR RAIN SHOWS UP NEXT WEEK ON WEDNESDAY. SO SOME REALLY NICE JUNE WEATHER ON THE WAY. CHECK OUT THOSE BEAUTIFUL SKIES HERE ALL ACROSS CENTRAL IOWA RIGHT NOW. A LITTLE RIPPLE ON THE WATER OUT THERE AT LAKE PANORAMA THANKS TO THAT BREEZE. BUT LOOKS LIKE SOME FOLKS ARE ENJOYING THAT BEAUTIFUL SUNSHINE OUT ON THE LAKE RIGHT NOW. HARDLY ANY CLOUDS IN OUR SKIES WILL CONTINUE TO SEE A FEW OF THOSE CUMULUS CLOUDS BUBBLE UP THROUGH THE REST OF THE DAY. THERE’S THE COLD FRONT THAT BROUGHT US THE STORMS YESTERDAY THAT CONTINUES TO PUSH AWAY WITH HIGH PRESSURE OVERHEAD. BEAUTIFUL SHOT HERE OUT IN WEST DES MOINES. TEMPERATURES SITTING AT 78 DEGREES. BIT OF A WEST NORTHWEST BREEZE, ABOUT 16MPH. HUMIDITY REMAINS VERY LOW. YOU KNOW, EARLIER THIS WEEK WE WERE AT THE TOP OF THIS CHART. IT WAS EXTREMELY HUMID OUT THERE. TODAY FEELS PRETTY GOOD. AND NEXT FEW DAYS SHOULD FEEL ALL RIGHT AS WELL. UPPER 70S HERE FOR MOST OF US RIGHT NOW. 77 IN AMES, 78 IN PERRY AND FORT DODGE, 79 IN ALGONA. WITH THAT BREEZE OUT OF THE WEST, OCCASIONALLY GUSTING OVER 25 MILES AN HOUR. AGAIN, THAT WIND KIND OF DIES DOWN AS WE HEAD THROUGH THE AFTERNOON INTO THE EVENING, WITH OUR HIGH TEMPERATURES ONCE AGAIN TOPPING OUT RIGHT AROUND 83 DEGREES. SO LOOKING OKAY HERE FOR YOUR FRIDAY AFTERNOON. A FEW OF THOSE STORMS OUT THERE TOMORROW. AGAIN, SOUTHERN IOWA COULD BE DEALING WITH A COUPLE OF STRONGER STORMS. THAT’S WHY SOME WEATHER IMPACT DAY THAT GETS OUT OF HERE SUNDAY, MONDAY. TUESDAY WITH HIGHS IN THE 70S. LOWS IN THE 50S. SOME SPOTS COULD EVE
