Iowa weather: Muggy heat returns, plus more rain
DES MOINES, Iowa —
Another round of rainfall, plus a brief surge of humid heat are the focus of Iowa’s weather heading into Tuesday.
Tonight, skies will be partly to mostly cloudy and dry for the majority of the state. Rain is possible in far northwest Iowa after midnight as a boundary approaches from the west.

Tomorrow’s weather will depend on where you’re at more than usual.
Northwest Iowa can expect scattered showers through much of the day. This will keep temps around 80°.
Central and southern Iowa get another dose of the muggy heat when temperatures climb above 90° and feels-like readings approach 100° under partly cloudy skies.
The boundary causing NW Iowa’s showers will eventually sink east-southeast across the state. As it does so, more showers and storms will form ahead of it. Storms are most likely in western Iowa around 4-5 p.m., then in central Iowa a couple hours later.
Severe weather isn’t likely for most, but isolated strong wind gusts are possible.
Rain will last through Tuesday night, gradually shifting southward out of Iowa Wednesday morning.
All-told, some places could get another 1-3″ of rain by Wednesday. This is most likely in central and southern Iowa.
Clouds will decrease north to south Wednesday, humidity will decrease, and temperatures will return to the 80s. Thursday currently looks like the pick day of this week — abundant sunshine, highs in the low 80s, and no major mugginess.
