Credit union’s contribution will support repairs at Schutte Park after August storm damaged fields, fencing, lights and dugouts

DOVER, Del. — Dover Little League’s effort to recover from tornado damage received a boost from Del-One Federal Credit Union, which donated $3,300 to help restore the organization’s fields at Schutte Park.

The contribution, made in partnership with Visa as part of a community reinvestment initiative, comes after an EF-1 tornado swept through Dover in late August with winds exceeding 100 mph.

The storm caused significant damage to the Little League complex, including fencing, light poles, scoreboards and dugout roofs.

For Dover Little League, the damage affected more than a collection of baseball fields. The complex has served generations of area children, coaches, volunteers and families.

“The devastation caused by the tornado was felt across the entire community, and we know how much this Little League field means to local families,” Del-One President and CEO Dan McCarthy said. “We are proud to help restore a place where children can play, grow and make memories.”

McCarthy said the donation reflects the credit union’s emphasis on supporting the communities it serves.

“Community is built on neighbors helping neighbors, and we are honored to be part of that effort,” he said.

Dover Little League officials receiving the donation included President Bill Kinsey, Baseball Director Videll Slade, City Liaison Director Ed Coker, Concessions Director Mary Pritchett and Equipment Director Ralph Pann.

Del-One Federal Credit Union has more than $984 million in assets and more than 106,000 members, with full-service branches throughout Delaware.
