Riders win fifth straight as second-quarter surge and strong defense deliver victory over St. Georges Tech
CAMDEN, Del. — Caesar Rodney celebrated homecoming Friday night with a hard-fought 17-10 victory over St. Georges Tech at Rider Stadium, extending its winning streak to five games in a matchup between two of Delaware’s top high school football programs.
The victory improved the Riders to 5-1, while St. Georges Tech fell to 4-2.
Quarterback Gavin Johnson led a second-quarter surge that gave Caesar Rodney a 14-2 halftime advantage. The Riders then held off a second-half comeback by the Hawks to preserve the victory.
The win marked a successful opening to Caesar Rodney’s Class 3A District II schedule and continued one of the program’s strongest starts in recent seasons.
