Brunswick man charged with murder after police find body

A Brunswick man was charged with murder Friday night in connection with a suspicious death that is under investigation by Maine State Police.

Bath police responded to a reported disturbance at approximately 6:30 p.m. and spoke with Tanner Dostie, 45, of Brunswick, who made statements to police that prompted further investigation, according to Maine State Police spokesperson Shannon Moss.

A search of a Brunswick residence turned up the body of an adult male.

The body was taken to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta, where an autopsy will be performed to confirm identification and determine the cause and manner of death.

Dostie was charged with murder and taken to Cumberland County Jail.

The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit is leading the investigation with help from Bath and Brunswick police, the Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office and the Office of the State Fire Marshal. No additional information is being released.
