A new face will join the Warren County Fiscal Court in January as Democratic challenger Barry Brown defeated Republican Third District Magistrate Rick Williams in Tuesday’s election.
Brown, a businessman who spent time in the supply chain and procurement business, finished the night with 2,933 votes to Williams’ 2,577. This was Brown’s first time running for office.
Williams has represented the third district since 2022 when he defeated Democratic candidate Rick DuBose. Prior to serving on the fiscal court, Williams served as a Bowling Green city commissioner from 2013 to 2018.
Brown said last month that if elected, he will offer the fiscal court a “fresh perspective” on things and a “commitment to being accessible, responsive, and accountable to the people I represent.”
“My campaign is built on a simple promise — committed to service and accountable to you,” Brown said.
Republican Fourth District Magistrate Rex McWhorter fended off a general election battle against Democrat Megan Bailey, keeping his seat with 3,986 votes to Bailey’s 3,320.

Fifth District Magistrate Eric Aldridge, a Republican, will also keep his seat on the fiscal court after defeating independent candidate Tony Nelson 3,356 votes to 1,511.
