Allen, Spidel boost Lady Gators in rout

Greenwood’s Madilyn Allen and Molly Spidel combined for four home runs and 12 RBIs to pace the visiting Lady Gators to a 19-1 softball win against Elizabethtown on Thursday.
Allen hit a solo home run in the top of the first inning and connected for a grand slam in the fourth to finish the night 4-for-4 at the plate with six RBIs. Spidel hit two home runs in the fourth inning and was 4-for-4 with six RBIs in the game.
Macie Murray added a two-run homer in the fourth, and Kate Rippy also finished the night 4-for-4 at the plate with an RBI. Greenwood finished with 20 hits total.
Raelie Potter pitched a complete game for the win, allowing one run while striking out two batters.
Greenwood (18-11) hosts Paducah Tilghman and Muhlenberg County on Saturday in the Greenwood Classic.
Barren County 5, Warren East 1
Homestanding Barren County picked up a 5-1 win against District 15 rival Warren East on Thursday.
Norah Shirley connected on a two-run home run for the Trojanettes in the win.
Autumn Brooks tallied the lone RBI for the Lady Raiders.
Barren County (11-6 overall, 3-3 District 15) was set to host Cumberland County on Friday.
Warren East (12-14, 1-5 District 15) was scheduled to host Elizabethtown on Friday.
Glasgow 8, Edmonson County 6
Host Glasgow notched an 8-6 win against Edmonson County on Thursday.
Emma Davis went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two stolen bases to lead the visiting Lady Cats in the loss. Shelby Sowders was 2-for-4, Jolee Vincent tallied a triple and an RBI, and Emma Price, Abigal Hogg and Emma Hight drove in one run apiece.
Edmonson County (11-15) was set to visit Russellville on Friday.
Glasgow (10-11) was slated to host Monroe County on Friday.
Baseball
Bowling Green 17, Franklin-Simpson 6
Logan Johnson connected for three doubles and drove in six runs to spark host Bowling Green to a 17-6 win in five innings against Franklin-Simpson on Thursday.
Johnson was 3-for-3 at the plate and scored three runs. Colt Isenberg was 2-for-2 with a double, three runs scored and an RBI, and Jack Cowan went 2-for-4 with a triple, a double and two RBIs. Henry Phillips tallied a double and three RBIs, James Yarbrough also finished with three RBIs, Landon Gilbert drove in two runs, and John Mosley had a double and an RBI in the win.
Isenberg earned the win in relief, allowing one run over 4 1/3 innings while striking out five.
Bowling Green (24-4) was slated to host Russell County on Friday.
Kolton Turner went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, two runs scored and four RBIs to lead the Wildcats. Liam Heinze was 2-for-3, and Braylon Turner and Hendrik Blanckenberg each notched an RBI.
Franklin-Simpson (17-11) was scheduled to host Barren County on Friday.
Glasgow 8, Cumberland County 5
Glasgow tallied an 8-5 road win in eight innings against Cumberland County on Friday.
Thomas Glass led the Scotties at the plate with a 3-for-5 night with two RBIs. He also stole three bases. Landon Martin was 3-for-4 with a triple and an RBI, and Steven Garrett and Keaton Haynes both went 2-for-5 with an RBI.
Garrett got the win in relief, allowing one run over three innings while striking out two. Scotties starter Braylen Caldwell struck out 11 in five innings.
Glasgow (17-15) was scheduled to visit Logan County on Friday.
