LORMAN, Miss. (WJTV) – One person was killed and two people were injured during a shooting on Alcorn State University’s campus in Lorman.
Bailey Martin, spokesperson for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (MDPS), said the shooting happened around 6:30 p.m. on October 11, 2025, in the area of the Industrial Technology Building.

When officers arrived, they found three individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the victims died. Martin said no arrest has been made at this time.
The university sent out an alert just after 7:00 p.m., telling students to shelter in place until an all clear was issued.
“Effective immediately, campus is closed until further notice. Only current students and employees are permitted on campus,” officials said.
The shooting happened the day of Alcorn State’s homecoming game.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) will take the lead on the investigation.
