Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan hold consular consultations in Ashgabat

AKIPRESS.COM – Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan held consular consultations in Ashgabat on September 2, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reported.

The sides discussed topical issues of bilateral consular cooperation, the protection of the rights and legitimate interests of citizens of the two states, as well as cooperation in the areas of migration, legal affairs and law enforcement.

Particular attention was paid to preventing cases of dual citizenship, issues related to the stay of citizens of Turkmenistan studying at universities of Azerbaijan, as well as further strengthening cooperation between the competent authorities of the two countries.

The parties also considered prospects for further developing cooperation and exchanging experience between the migration services of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan.

Following the meeting, the sides signed the Protocol on Consular Consultations, which reflected the main outcomes of the exchange of views and the agreements reached on further developing consular cooperation.
