Foreign Minister of Tajikistan and Head of UNAMA discuss regional security

AKIPRESS.COM – Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin met with Special Representative of the Secretary‑General and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan Rabab Fatima on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly on September 22, the Foreign Ministry of Tajikistan reported.

The parties discussed regional security and key issues related to the implementation of UNAMA’s mandate.

The Foreign Minister emphasized Tajikistan’s continued commitment to supporting peace and stability in Afghanistan and highlighted the importance of coordinated international efforts to address terrorism, extremism and cross‑border challenges.

Rabab Fatima briefed the Minister on UNAMA’s current priorities and future planned engagements.

Both sides reaffirmed their readiness to strengthen cooperation and maintain regular dialogue on matters of mutual concern.
