Tokayev meets with Interior Ministers of OTS member states and OTS Secretary General
AKIPRESS.COM – The 3rd Meeting of the Ministers of Internal Affairs of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) took place in Astana on September 10 under the chairmanship of Kazakh Minister of Internal Affairs Yerzhan Sadenov.
Attended by interior ministers from Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, and Uzbekistan alongside OTS Secretary General Kubanychbek Omuraliev, the session focused on enhancing bilateral and multilateral security coordination, crime prevention, and information sharing across member states.
Secretary General Omuraliev highlighted ongoing law enforcement initiatives and stressed the strategic importance of developing joint security projects.
Following deliberations, the Interior Ministers signed a Joint Communique outlining future areas of operational cooperation and agreed to hold their next summit in Turkey in 2027.
Prior to the ministerial sessions, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev hosted the delegation heads, reaffirming that deep-rooted historical ties, shared culture, and common interests underpin the growing partnership among Turkic nations.
Emphasizing the vital role played by security forces in maintaining stability amid an increasingly unpredictable global environment, Tokayev praised the ministers’ platform for strengthening regional defense and law enforcement coordination.
Closing the meeting, President Tokayev expressed his commitment to deepening ties within the OTS and extended warm greetings to the heads of state of all member countries.
