President of Turkmenistan receives Foreign Minister of Tajikistan
AKIPRESS.COM – President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin, who arrived on a visit to Turkmenistan, on August 20, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reported.
The Foreign Minister noted that further expanding cooperation with Turkmenistan is one of the priorities of the foreign policy of Tajikistan.
The President expressed confidence that the future meetings would expand the scope of key areas of the Turkmen-Tajik strategic partnership and serve to strengthen ties between the Foreign Ministries.
Turkmenistan and Tajikistan actively cooperate in both bilateral and multilateral formats. This is confirmed by mutual support for initiatives to strengthen global peace, stability, and sustainable development within the UN, CIS, ECO, and other international organizations, as well as within the “Central Asia +” (“C5+1”) framework, as was noted at the meeting.
Within the framework of Turkmenistan’s chairmanship in the CIS this year, it is planned to hold the next meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth and the Consultative Meeting of the Leaders of Central Asian Countries and Azerbaijan in the Avaza National Tourist Zone, Berdimuhamedov said.
The importance of trade and economic partnership in the context of bilateral relations was emphasized. A special role is given to the activities of the Joint Turkmen-Tajik Intergovernmental Commission on Trade-Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation.
Noting the new opportunities opening up today for expanding interaction in this area, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov highlighted the great potential for cooperation in the energy, transport and agriculture sectors.
The cultural and humanitarian sphere serves as an integral component of the interstate dialogue. The intention was expressed to continue actively supporting cooperation in this direction through the organization of mutual thematic events.
At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin expressed confidence in the further dynamic development of Turkmen-Tajik relations.
