President of Kazakhstan meets with Ministers of Internal Affairs of OTS member states
AKIPRESS.COM – Ahead of the meeting of the Ministers of Internal Affairs of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with the heads of law enforcement agencies from OTS member states, the presidential press service of Kazakhstan reported.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan Vilayat Eyvazov, Minister of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Ulan Niyazbekov, Minister of Internal Affairs of Turkey Mustafa Çiftçi, Minister of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan Aziz Tashpulatov, and Minister of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Sadenov.
In his welcoming remarks, Tokayev noted that cooperation among Turkic nations is becoming stronger each year.
“The Organization of Turkic States makes a significant contribution to strengthening our friendship. Kazakhstan attaches priority importance to deepening comprehensive cooperation with this Organization. Member states are expanding ties across various sectors, including between law enforcement agencies. The meeting of the Ministers of Internal Affairs holds special significance,” the President said.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev highlighted the modern threats and challenges resulting from large-scale global changes.
“The global situation has become unstable and unpredictable. Despite this, new opportunities are opening up for all countries. If we wish to be among the prosperous nations at the forefront of progress, we must act decisively and swiftly. To this end, sweeping reforms have been implemented in Kazakhstan. A national referendum was held in the country in March. A new Constitution was adopted, enshrining the observance of citizens’ rights and freedoms and the maintenance of law and order as inviolable principles of our state. In accordance with the Constitution, a new political office – that of Vice President – has been established in our country. A new government has also assumed office,” the President of Kazakhstan noted.
The head of state also addressed the transformations within the public administration and security structures.
“In particular, a new state body – the Security Council Office – has been established. Its functions include the comprehensive analysis of global and national challenges and the coordination of efforts in national security. Furthermore, a supreme consultative body, People’s Council, will be established in the near future. The public administration system is undergoing a profound renewal. These large-scale transformations will extend to all sectors, including law enforcement,” the President emphasized.
At the end of the meeting, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev conveyed greetings to the leaders of the OTS member states, urging the continued maintenance of friendly relations.
Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States Kubanychbek Omuraliev also spoke during the event. He noted the cooperation areas within the Organization in the field of judiciary and law enforcement, highlighting the significance of the cooperation among the Ministries of Internal Affairs, particularly in the context current regional and global developments, the OTS press service reported.
