Over 700 foreign nationals relocated to Uzbekistan in Q1 2026
AKIPRESS.COM – A total of 721 foreign citizens relocated to Uzbekistan for permanent residence during the first quarter of 2026, according to the latest data from the National Statistics Committee. The figures, covering January-March, show that the vast majority of new permanent residents arrived from the CIS states, Kun.uz reported.
Russia emerged as the largest source of permanent migration, accounting for 34.1% of the total arrivals. Kazakhstan followed as the second-largest contributor at 19.7%, while the Republic of Tajikistan made up 12.2% of the incoming residents. The Kyrgyz Republic and Turkmenistan accounted for 4.9% and 3.7% of the relocations respectively, while various other countries combined made up the remaining 25.4% of the migration pool.
In terms of geographic distribution within Uzbekistan, urban areas and industrialized provinces attracted the highest concentration of newcomers. The capital city, Tashkent, welcomed the overwhelming majority of international arrivals, with 454 individuals choosing it as their permanent home. Tashkent region secured the second spot, attracting 126 residents, followed by the Republic of Karakalpakstan, which registered 56 new permanent inhabitants.
Other regions across the country saw significantly lower immigration numbers during this three-month window. Samarkand region registered 14 arrivals, while Fergana and Khorezm regions each welcomed 11 people. Syrdarya region became home to 10 new residents, Navoi region registered 9, and Bukhara region recorded 8.
The remaining influx was sparsely distributed among the other provinces. Andijan region received 6 permanent residents, while Jizzakh, Namangan, and Surkhandarya regions each registered 5 newcomers. Kashkadarya region recorded the fewest arrivals, with only 1 individual relocating to the province during the first quarter of the year.
