Kyrgyzstan’s exports to Russia rise 60% in five months – Russian Economy Minister

AKIPRESS.COM – Imports from Kyrgyzstan to Russia increased by 60% in the first five months of 2026 making bilateral trade more balanced, Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov said at the plenary session “Strategic Partnership between Kyrgyzstan and Russia: Priorities — 2030” during the 8th Kyrgyz-Russian Economic Forum and 12th Kyrgyz-Russian Interregional Conference.

Reshetnikov said cooperation between the two countries depends on economic growth, new projects, and trust between governments and businesses.

According to him, Kyrgyzstan’s economy has grown by 35% over the past three years, one of the highest rates in the region, while Russia’s economy expanded by about 10% during the same period.

He noted that bilateral trade continued to grow in 2026, with Russia’s share of Kyrgyzstan’s trade turnover reaching 27%. Reshetnikov said trade is increasingly shifting from simple food supplies toward industrial cooperation.

Around 2,000 companies with Russian participation operate in Kyrgyzstan, while Russian businesses have invested billions of dollars in the country’s economy.

The minister highlighted nearly 60 major joint projects in energy, machinery, and mining, as well as growing cooperation in e-commerce. Russian online marketplaces are helping Kyrgyz producers access not only the Russian market but also other international markets.

Reshetnikov also emphasized the role of the Eurasian Economic Union, the Eurasian Development Bank, the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development, and the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund in supporting economic cooperation.

He concluded that Russia will continue expanding cooperation with Kyrgyzstan.
