Heavy rains and mudslide risks forecast across Tajikistan
AKIPRESS.COM – Torrential rains are expected across Tajikistan from May 21 to May 25, potentially triggering mudslides in several regions of the country, the Hydrometeorology Agency of Tajikistan reported.
The Agency forecasts localized mudslide risks within Khatlon and Sughd regions, as well as the western part of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region.
Water levels are expected to rise in the Isfara, Zeravshan, Obihingou, Vakhsh, Pyanj, Yakhsu, and South Kyzylsu rivers, as well as in tributaries flowing down the southern slopes of the Hissar Range. In light of these adverse weather conditions, citizens have been advised to take all necessary safety precautions.
