Chinese International Technical College to be opened in Tashkent
AKIPRESS.COM – A multidisciplinary Chinese International Technical College is planned to be opened in Tashkent in collaboration with China Oriental Education Holdings Limited. This is stated in a draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan, which has been published for public discussion, gazeta.uz reported.
The technical college is proposed to be located on at the Republican Technical School of Television and Radio in Bektemir district. The building will be provided for targeted free use for a period of 20 years.
The project envisages that China Oriental Education Holdings will attract $5.1 million in foreign direct investment for the establishment of the technical college.
The college will operate as a non-governmental educational institution, and its founders will be China Oriental Education Holdings and the Agency for Vocational Training under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation.
Training will be offered on a fee-based contract basis in full-time, evening, and dual programs. The college will also train mid-level personnel and organize internships for students commissioned by major Chinese automakers such as BYD, Chery, and JAC. Graduates will be able to receive vocational diplomas recognized in Uzbekistan, as well as international certificates.
According to the document, China Oriental Education Holdings, as part of the investment project, is committed to reconstructing buildings, constructing new workshops, and providing equipment. Local and international teachers are planned to be recruited to work at the technical school. The company will also be responsible for organizing professional development for local teachers in China.
Starting in the 2027-2028 academic year, the Republican Technical School of Television and Radio is scheduled to cease accepting students. Current students will be able to complete their studies under existing educational programs.
Discussion of the draft document will last until September 1, 2026.
