On September 2 at 10:00 AM at the National Museum of Tajikistan, the exhibition “Modarnoma” (“Ode to Mother”) opens on the occasion of the 80th birthday of People’s Artist of Tajikistan, laureate of the Rudaki State Prize Sabzaali Murodzhoda Sharif and the 35th anniversary of state independence.

Sabzaali Sharif is an iconic name in Tajik art. It was he who created the official symbols of presidential power — the Standard and the Sign of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan. But behind the strict status of a monumental artist lies a subtle researcher of the Tajik soul and history.

The exhibition includes more than 30 key works by the master from the golden collection of the National Museum and his personal archive.

The focus is on the image of woman-mother, the origins of culture, the nature of Tajikistan, and the major milestones in the formation of the nation.

Here you will be able to see in person the artist’s famous paintings “From Era to Era,” “From Gaze to Gaze,” “From Afar to Light,” and “From Light to Peaks,” in which philosophical parable intertwines with national character.

The artist’s path began in Farhor in the family of a craftsman. He received professional education at the Olimov Dushanbe Art School, then studied at the legendary Tashkent Theater and Art Institute and spent half a century continuously engaged in creative work.

The master’s works were exhibited over the years from Moscow and Warsaw to Budapest and Berlin, and now they are brought together in a single narrative within the walls of the country’s main museum.
