The men’s and women’s teams of Tajikistan will compete at the 46th FIDE Chess Olympiad, which will take place from September 15 to 27 in Samarkand (Uzbekistan).
The competition will be held at the Silk Road International Exhibition Center from September 15 to 27, 2026 (the first playing round is scheduled for September 16, and the rest day is on September 22).
The Tajikistan women’s team (seeded 84th) will feature five chess players. They are Marvori Nasriddinzoda, Nadezhda Antonova, Rukhshona Saidova, Nozanin Mahmudova, and Shukrona Mashabova. The team captain is Zafar Nazarzoda.
The men’s team (seeded 61st) is also represented by five chess players. They are Mehriddin Sharifov, Muhammad Huseinkhodzhaev, Mustafokhudzha Huseinkhodzhaev, Ilkhomi Dzhaloliddin, and Amin Kabilov. The team captain is Said Khalil Musavi.
“In these days, members of the Tajikistan team are undergoing training under the guidance of coach Said Khalil Musavi. During the training camps, special attention is paid to theoretical, tactical, and psychological preparation of chess players, analysis of games, and improvement of athletic skill. Participation in the World Chess Olympiad is an important opportunity for representatives of Tajikistan to represent their country on the international stage,” said Ilkhom Yunusov, Secretary General of the Chess Federation of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Approximately 400 teams and more than 4,000 players, coaches, and delegation members will participate in the Chess Olympiad in Samarkand. Winners and medalists will be determined based on the results of 11 rounds among men and women.
Held since 1927, the Olympiad remains the largest team competition in world chess.
