A military parade dedicated to the 35th anniversary of Tajikistan’s state independence was held on September 7 in Dushanbe at Istiqlol Square. The country’s president, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Emomali Rahmon, participated in the parade.
According to the press service of the head of state, more than 27,000 people participated in the parade — officers and soldiers of the Armed Forces units, employees of law enforcement and security agencies, servicemen of the mobilization reserve, female servicemen, veterans of law enforcement structures, international soldiers, and representatives of other units of the Dushanbe garrison.
The Minister of Defense of Tajikistan, Colonel General Emomali Sobirzoda, reported to the president on the readiness of the units for the parade. The parade began following the command of the commander of the Dushanbe garrison, Major General Husein Shokirzoda.
First, the flag bearers of the Honor Guard company of the Ministry of Defense carried the state flag of Tajikistan onto the square, after which the units marched solemnly to the music of a combined military orchestra.
In his address, Emomali Rahmon congratulated the country’s residents, servicemen, law enforcement officers, and veterans on the 35th anniversary of independence. He noted the role of the Armed Forces and law enforcement agencies in ensuring security and political stability in the republic in the first years after the collapse of the Soviet Union and during the civil war in Tajikistan.
“Today we proudly declare that over 35 years of State independence, the Armed Forces of Tajikistan have transformed into a modern, organized, powerful, and professional force,” the president said.
The head of state separately addressed the current situation in the world. He stated that amid growing risks, the responsibility of servicemen and law enforcement officers increases, and called on them to improve their professional training, comply with laws and military regulations. According to the president, the country’s security directly depends on the professionalism, knowledge, skills, and vigilance of servicemen.
“Military service is not only the fulfillment of professional duties, but also a manifestation of honor, dignity, and conscientious performance of filial duty to the ancestral homeland,” Rahmon stated.
The president called the current parade a symbol of discipline and combat readiness of the Armed Forces. According to him, over 35 years of independence, servicemen and law enforcement officers who ensured the security of the state and public stability have earned the respect of the country’s citizens.
This year, Tajikistan is celebrating the 35th anniversary of state independence, which was proclaimed on September 9, 1991.
