President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met in Bishkek with U.S. Presidential Special Envoy for Central and South Asia Sergio Gor and Republican Senator Steve Daines, a member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources.
The parties discussed current issues of Tajik-American cooperation, including the development of trade and economic ties and attracting investments.
Special attention was paid to opportunities for implementing projects in the energy, industrial, and mining sectors of Tajikistan.
During the meeting, Rahmon emphasized the importance of the C5+1 format, which brings together Central Asian countries and the United States.
“Tajikistan highly values the role of the C5+1 mechanism as an important platform for regional dialogue and cooperation,” the president said.
The interlocutors also discussed issues of security and stability in the region and the world, as well as political and diplomatic ways to resolve conflicts.
Recall that U.S. Presidential Special Envoy for Central and South Asia Sergio Gor visited Tajikistan at the end of April this year on a two-day visit, during which he held meetings with the country’s leadership.
