Emomali Rahmon congratulates U.S. and Iranian leaders on reaching peace agreement

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon has sent congratulatory telegrams to U.S. President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian following the reported peace agreement between the two countries, the Tajik president’s press service said.

In his message to the U.S. president, Rahmon described the agreement as an important step toward strengthening peace and stability in the Middle East.

“This is truly an important event, which has become the result of your firm will and tireless efforts, and is crucial for establishing comprehensive peace and stability in the Middle East region,” the Tajik leader stated.

Rahmon added that the agreements lay the foundation for advancing the peace process and reducing regional tensions. He also reaffirmed Tajikistan’s consistent position in favor of resolving conflicts through political and diplomatic means.

The president wished Donald Trump good health and success, as well as peace, prosperity, and well-being for the American people.

In a separate telegram to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Rahmon congratulated the Iranian leadership and people on reaching the agreement with the United States.

He noted that the deal required significant effort and reflected the political will and resilience of the Iranian side.

According to Rahmon, the agreement will contribute to strengthening lasting peace in the region, improving international security, and creating favorable conditions for socio-economic development.

“Tajikistan consistently supports the resolution of international disputes through negotiations and diplomatic dialogue and therefore welcomes this outcome and the peaceful initiatives of the parties,” he said.

The Tajik president also expressed hope for further expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation and friendly relations between the countries, wishing Iran continued peace, security, and prosperity.

Rahmon also sent similar congratulatory messages to Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, praising their mediation efforts in facilitating the agreement.

He emphasized that the role of Qatar and Pakistan was significant in achieving the deal, which he said contributes to regional stability and international security.

As reported earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at ending military hostilities and reopening the Strait of Hormuz for navigation. The document, reportedly signed electronically, came into force immediately.

The memorandum is set for 60 days and includes provisions to extend the ceasefire and implement steps toward de-escalation of the conflict.

According to the published text, the agreement envisages a cessation of hostilities across the region, including Lebanon, a phased lifting of the U.S. naval blockade on Iranian ports, and a gradual withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iran’s borders following a final peace treaty.

A key element of the deal is the restoration of free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, with vessel passage expected to be duty-free during the 60-day period.
