A Find in Ancient Khuttal
Somewhat earlier, as a result of archaeological work, specialists of the Agency for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Heritage found coins from the Samanid era. The find was discovered in one of the monuments of ancient Khuttal – the Tokhir caravanserai, located in the Farkhori District.
According to Komron Safolzoda, the first deputy director of the agency, this find has special significance for the archaeology and numismatics of Tajikistan and can become a valuable scientific source for studying the monetary system in the Samanid era, economic and trade relations, caravan routes, and the connections of Khuttal with other regions of Central Asia.
Recall that the monuments of historical and cultural heritage of Ancient Khuttal in Tajikistan were officially inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2025. And the Tokhir caravanserai is one of these 11 monuments.
