The feature-length documentary “Yugo Goes to America”, directed by Filip Grujić and Aleksa Borković, is coming to cinemas across Serbia from 3 September, with screenings scheduled throughout September in Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and North Macedonia.
The film begins its theatrical journey in Kragujevac, the city where the Yugo was produced, where a special screening will be held at Cineplexx Kragujevac on Thursday, 3 September, at 20:00, attended by director Filip Grujić. A special screening in Novi Sad will take place on Saturday, 5 September, at 20:00 at Arena Cineplex.
“Yugo Goes to America” follows a group of Serbian millennials who set off on a road trip across the United States in the region’s most iconic vehicle – the cult Yugoslav car once mocked as the “worst in history”. The film had its world premiere at CPH:DOX in Copenhagen, one of the world’s most prestigious documentary film festivals, and won both the Audience Award and a Special Mention in the TEEN section at the Beldocs festival.
