This year’s Author Film Festival (FAF) will take place from 20 to 27 November, opening with Cristian Mungiu’s film Fjord, organisers announced today. 

Fjord, which won the Palme d’Or at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, will open the 32nd edition of FAF on Friday, 20 November at 7:00 pm in the Main Hall of Belgrade’s MTS Dvorana.

The latest film by Romanian director Cristian Mungiu centres on the Gheorghe family, led by actors Sebastian Stan and Renate Reinsve. It tells the story of a devout Romanian-Norwegian couple who relocate to a village in a remote fjord, where they grow close to their neighbours while their children form a tight bond despite their differing upbringings, according to the press release. However, when suspicions arise regarding the parents’ treatment of their children, their lives are thrown into turmoil as they find themselves under intense public scrutiny and condemnation.

Tickets for the opening night are on sale from today at the MTS Dvorana box office as well as online.
