STAND FIRM IN FREEDOM
Galatians 5:1 “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”
Freedom isn’t a byproduct of the gospel. It is its purpose. Christ didn’t free us so we could return to bondage. He freed us so we could live in the reality of grace.
Freedom from guilt, from condemnation, and from trying to earn what has already been given.
But freedom must be guarded. “Stand firm, then…” This isn’t passive; it requires resolve. The pull back into slavery is real. Legalism, performance, self-reliance; all of it presses in, trying to place us again under a yoke Christ has already broken.
“And do not let yourselves be burdened again…” There is a responsibility. We must not allow ourselves to drift back into what once held us. The yoke of slavery may look religious and it may feel disciplined, but if it replaces grace with performance, it’s still bondage.
The Christian life isn’t about moving from grace to effort. It’s about remaining in grace.
The lesson for us today is clear. Christ has set us free! Stand firm in that freedom and refuse to return to anything that places you back under bondage.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for the freedom Christ has secured for us. Give us strength to stand firm and not return to any form of slavery. Guard our hearts from legalism and self-reliance, and help us to live fully in Your grace. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
Have a great day. God bless and lots’a love,
Warren
