Wednesday was the first day of the free spay and neuter clinics by Animal Balance, Alofa mo Meaola and the Department of Health. A total of 56 surgeries were performed.
The team from Animal Balance includes 4 veterinarians and 6 technicians who are offering their services free. This is the organization’s fourth visit to American Samoa offering free spay and neuter clinics. Megan Gram of Animal Balance said they provide these services across the United States and island nations around the world.

Wednesday and Thursday the clinics were at the South Pacific Academy Gym and on Friday and Saturday they move to the Fagatogo Pavilion. There’ll be no clinics on Monday, but on Tuesday, July 14, the team will be at Amanave, then move to Afono on July 15, followed by Fagasa on July 16. The last two clinic days July 17 and 18 will be in Laulii village.
Dog and cat owners are urged to bring their animals to the clinics no later than 10 am.
The clinics are strictly on a first come, first saved basis.
