TOKYO, Japan — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has categorically denied claims made by his sister, Sen. Imee Marcos, that he is pushing a no-election scenario in 2028, adding that the senator should “fire” her staff who gave her that wrong information.

“She should choose her sources of information better,” Marcos told reporters in a sit-down interview as he concluded his four-day state visit here.

He said, “She should fire her staff that gave her that information.”

Marcos debunked her sister’s claim, saying they have “never at any point even spoke about this.”

Moreover, the President stressed that fake news hurts everyone, not only the attacked but also the purveyor.

“If you’re not part of the solution, you become part of the problem and that is a perfect example of that,” he also said. /mr
