The United States extended its ban on Americans traveling to North Korea for the tenth consecutive year, citing continued safety concerns.

In a notice published Monday in the Federal Register, the U.S. State Department said the travel ban will remain in effect through Aug. 31, 2027, unless extended or revoked. Secretary of State Marco Rubio signed the latest extension July 2 and it will take effect on Sept. 1.

The State Department “determined there continues to be serious risk to U.S. citizens and nationals of arrest and long-term detention constituting imminent danger to their physical safety,” the notice said.
