North Korea threatens response to Japan’s arms buildup ahead of Asian Games

Kim Yo Jong, the influential sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, on Wednesday threatened Japan for transforming into a “war state,” citing Tokyo’s recent first-ever test-firing of a long-range Tomahawk cruise missile.

In a statement issued through the state-run Korean Central News Agency, Kim criticized Japan’s test launch of a U.S.-made Tomahawk cruise missile last week and its participation in the U.S.-Philippine Balikatan military exercise earlier this year.  

“Such military actions prove that Japan’s moves to formulate the possession of the capability for preemptive attack,” she said. 

Kim cited Japan’s deployment of guided missiles and high-speed glide
